Happy Birtday... Everybody!

October has been a busy month around here! There were six of us that all have birthdays within the month so we decided to have a big Birthday (or Birtday for Amy) Bash! We had a Mexican Fiesta with all the trimmings! It was delicious food followed by two decadent cakes and a game of Apples to Apples! It was very verocious, Chris! So Happy Birthday, Goldie 10/2, Tally 10/8, Chris 10/14, Kris 10/18, Elizabeth 10/19, and Amy 11/3!

Kris holding Eliza!
Wondering where we are going to put all the food!
Chris and Amy enjoying the meal!
Elizabeth and Reagan - I promise we didn't banish her to the kids table!
Peppermint Cake
The Happy Birtday Cake! I guess that is how they spell it at the Naval Academy! ;)

The Pumpkin Patch... Well Almost

While I was in Midland we tried to go to the Pumpkin Patch! We got the kids all ready to get their pictures made and then the Pumpkin Patch wasn't even open yet! So we went to Dennis the Menace Park instead and took pictures! They all looked so cute dressed up in their pumpkins! It was a shame the Pumpkin Patch wasn't open! I think the kids enjoyed the park more anyway! I love the picture of Blair and Kenan on the see-saw! Kenan's smile is priceless! Blair and Kenan together still weren't enough to get Blake to the top!

He Knows His Name

Today at lunch we were talking with Kenan! Daddy got up to get something and Kenan said, "Daddy!" Of course we affirmed that he was right! So I asked, "Who am I?" To which he responded, "Momma!"

This happens pretty regularly around our house because when I got back from Texas he kept calling Goldie, Momma! While we were in Texas he always referred to my mother, much to her chagrin, as "Da'Dunn!" He would then grin like he had told a really funny joke! Of course, my dad loved it since that is his granddad name!

So the point of my story! Then I asked, "who are you?" He pointed to himself and said, "Kenan!" This is the first time he has said his name! Yea, he knows his name!

Surgery Fun

Yesterday Goldie had to have surgery to repair a hernia! We had to be at the hospital at 0445! So we all bundled up and went to the hospital! Kenan, too! We didn't know what time we would have to be there until Friday night so that sort of limited us on babysitting! However, we did make a standing reservation at the free Child Care Center at the hospital (which is wonderful - every navy facility should have one)! The child care center doesn't open until 0630 so we were waiting until Goldie went back for pre-op to take him! Anyway, they finally came and told us that his surgery had been delayed for some reason! They eventually called Goldie back at 1030! Anyway, long story short, his surgery went well and we are home!

Well, last night around midnight Goldie rolls over and asks, "Can you reach your snooze button?" To which I replied, "Yes, why?" He said, "You know when you are on defense in football you use the snooze for the countdown to release the ball!" I said, "You do?" He said, "Yep!" I thought that was pretty funny! Those must be some good drugs they have him on! ;)

Colton Ray Dunn

He's here! Colton Ray Dunn made his appearance yesterday October 14th at 3:33pm weighing 6 lbs. and 15 oz. Rhesa is doing great! She said to me, "I don't know what your problem was! Having a baby was a piece of cake!" Congratulations to Rhesa and Wade on their new addition! I can't wait to watch him grow!

Cousins

Kenan has loved playing with his cousins since we have been in Texas! He just squeels in delight when they walk in! I am so thankful that even though Kenan is several years younger they still want to play with him! He thinks he is "big" like they are and tries everything that they do! It has been so fun watching them!

George W. Bush

We are all sitting around today about lunch time and my dad asked, "When is George W. Bush supposed to be in town?" So we looked it up on the Internet and found that he is in Midland today! For those of you that don't know, he lived here and met Laura Bush here! He considers this home!

Anyway, dad decided to make a sign and hunt the President down! So we all loaded into the car and made our way to where we thought he would be! (Not before getting some Taco Villa for the road!) The police and Highway Patrol had a bunch of local streets closed so we couldn't get as close as we would have liked! Instead of waiting at the BBQ he was attending we decided to go to the highway that he would most likely be taking to the airport! After several location changes for a better view and being denied access to the highway we finally parked it and waited! My dad wanted desperately for George W. to see his sign so he went to the side of the highway! (My dad managed to step into a sticker patch! He started picking the stickers out of his shoes and just about missed the motorcade as it came by!) We did see the motorcade as it passed by on the way to the airport! Dad's sign said, "We're safe! W, we love ya! Thanks!" He wanted to get a positive message to the President since he gets so much bad press!
